Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, holds a history that stretches back to 1926. Originally a simple swimming hole and picnic area, the park gradually expanded its offerings to include thrilling rides and attractions. Among its features are two iconic rides: the Phoenix roller coaster and the Twister roller coaster.
The Phoenix roller coaster, with its origins dating back to 1947, was originally located at the Playland Park in San Antonio, Texas. After the park’s closure in 1980, Knoebels purchased and relocated the coaster, meticulously restoring it to its former glory. This classic wooden coaster continues to delight visitors with its adrenaline-pumping drops and turns, earning it a cherished place in coaster enthusiasts’ hearts.
Another beloved attraction at Knoebels is the Twister roller coaster. Constructed in 1999, the Twister provides an exhilarating ride experience with its tight turns and spiraling track layout. They were also trying to recreate the long gone Coney Island Coaster the Flying turns.
In addition to these coaster experiences, Knoebels Amusement Resort also offers a charming boat ride that takes guests on a leisurely journey through a scenic waterway. This tranquil attraction provides a welcome respite from the park’s more intense rides, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. There is on site camping and cabins and the old pool is still there. Food and rides are all super cheap.
Also on site is a wonderful haunted house which is an additional charge and many other vintage rides.
